You don’t necessarily have to use products full of dangerous chemicals and unknown ingredients or pay a small fortune to the dentist if you want a dazzling white smile. There are many effective, safe ways in which teeth can be naturally whitened.
This yellowish color comes from plaque, a filmic substance based on bacteria. Plaque builds up on your teeth above and below your gum line. You may find it unsightly, but what’s more, it can damage your teeth and gums if it’s not removed.
The easiest way to remove plaque is to brush your teeth at least twice a day. You should use a soft toothbrush to replace when at least every three to four months the bristles begin to fray. You may also consider using an electrical toothbrush, which may be more effective in removing plaque than a traditional toothbrush.
Floss to loosen before you brush any bits of food so you can brush them away. Take about 18 inches of floss to floss your teeth, wrap each of your middle fingers around one end. Hold the thumbs and forefingers between the thumbs, gently push the floss between two teeth.
Plaque is your teeth’s sticky film, causing serious health issues. Plaque buildups become tartar and you end up dealing with inflammation of the gingivitis or gum. Fortunately, there are several natural remedies that will completely safely and effectively prevent these problems.
Try this natural paste recipe that will prevent plaque formation:

- A few drops of your favorite essential oil
Mix the ingredients in a bowl until a homogeneous paste is obtained. You can add a couple of drops of some essential oil if you like.
Dip your toothbrush into the paste and twice daily brush your teeth in the usual way.
Also highly effective are the following natural recipes when used once or twice a week to remove plaque:
- Mix a teaspoon of salt with 2 tablespoons of baking soda, mix thoroughly and gently brush the teeth with the paste.
- To make a paste, combine a teaspoon of baking soda with some hydrogen peroxide and brush your teeth and gums. Then spit it out and rinse well with your mouth.
- You can simply put on the wet toothbrush a bit of baking soda and brush the teeth. Then, with lukewarm water, rinse the mouth.
Experience has shown that coconut oil is the most powerful natural ingredient for the cause when it comes to teeth whitening. Simply swallow in the mouth for 15-20 minutes a teaspoon of coconut oil, rinse with lukewarm water, and brush the teeth. Repeat this every day and never stop smiling.
Plaque buildup can have severe effects on health. By feeding the foods you eat on the sugars, the plaque bacteria create acid that can damage your teeth and cause cavities. The bacteria also make toxins that can aggravate your gums, leading to gum disease (parodontal disease). When plaque on your teeth combines with the minerals in your saliva to form a hard deposit, it is called tartar.
Regular dental appointments are also critical to prevent further plaque and tartar build-up in your teeth. Your dentist will scrape and clean your teeth to free them from tartar and plaque. They can also be treated with fluoride, which can prevent and slow the growth on your teeth of plaque bacteria and tartar build-up. This helps prevent tooth decay.
Research suggests that chewing gum between sorbitol or xylitol-sweetened meals may prevent plaque buildup. Avoid chewing sugar gum that promotes bacterial growth on the teeth. Eating a healthy diet low in added sugars, on the other hand, can limit bacterial growth on your teeth. Make sure you eat lots of fresh, whole, lean protein.
Mouthwash or tool such as dental pick, interdental brush, or dental stick may be useful to prevent meal-to-meal bacteria from building up.
Tobacco smoking and chewing also fosters bacterial growth on teeth. Stop using tobacco products and don’t start if you’ve never tried them.
Try using a soft, clean toothbrush and regularly brush your teeth with vertical movements. Always pay attention to the gum-to-teeth space. Try to rub the teeth before going to sleep with an orange peel. This removes the bacteria that stick between your teeth in your mouth.
