You don’t necessarily have to use products full of dangerous chemicals and unknown ingredients or pay a small fortune to the dentist if you want a dazzling white smile. There are many effective, safe ways in which teeth can be naturally whitened.
This yellowish color comes from plaque, a filmy substance based on bacteria. Plaque builds up on your teeth above and below your gum line. You may find it unsightly, but what’s more, it can damage your teeth and gums if it’s not removed.
The easiest way to remove plaque is to brush your teeth at least twice a day. However, it would be best to use a soft toothbrush to replace it when the bristles begin to fray at least every three to four months. You may also consider using an electric toothbrush, which may be more effective in removing plaque than a traditional toothbrush.
Floss to loosen before you brush any bits of food so you can brush them away. Take about 18 inches of floss to floss your teeth, wrap each of your middle fingers around one end. Hold the thumbs and forefingers between the thumbs, gently push the floss between two teeth.
Plaque is your teeth’ sticky film, causing serious health issues. Plaque buildups become tartar, and you end up dealing with inflammation of the gingivitis or gum. Fortunately, several natural remedies will completely safely and effectively prevent these problems.

Plaque buildup can have severe effects on health. By feeding the foods you eat on the sugars, the plaque bacteria create acid that can damage your teeth and cause cavities. The bacteria also make toxins that aggravate your gums, leading to gum disease (periodontal disease). When plaque on your teeth combines with the minerals in your saliva to form a hard deposit, it is called tartar.
Regular dental appointments are also critical to prevent further plaque and tartar buildup in your teeth. Your dentist will scrape and clean your teeth to free them from tartar and plaque. They can also be treated with fluoride, which can prevent and slow the growth on your teeth of plaque, bacteria, and tartar buildup. This helps prevent tooth decay.
Research suggests that chewing gum between sorbitol or xylitol-sweetened meals may prevent plaque buildup. Avoid chewing sugar gum that promotes bacterial growth on the teeth. Eating a healthy diet low in added sugars, on the other hand, can limit bacterial growth on your teeth. Make sure you eat lots of fresh, whole, lean protein.
Mouthwash or tool such as dental pick, interdental brush, or dental stick may be useful to prevent meal-to-meal bacteria from building up.
Tobacco smoking and chewing also foster bacterial growth on teeth. So stop using tobacco products, and don’t start if you’ve never tried them.
Try using a soft, clean toothbrush and regularly brush your teeth with vertical movements. Always pay attention to the gum-to-teeth space. Try to rub your teeth before going to sleep with an orange peel. This removes the bacteria that stick between your teeth in your mouth.
